Home Remedies For Acne

The bane of teenage life – and sometimes of later life too – acne has inspired numerous remedies, from treatment designed to cleanse the system to topical ointments using honey, which has antiseptic properties, or oatmeal, which is slightly abrasive. All the following remedies were suggested by teenagers, some of whom had heard about the treatments from their peers or parents, others who had tried everything and experimented. Now they have all moved on and have lovely complexions.

Home Remedies For Acne

Home Remedies For Acne

Acne is often thought to be linked to toxins in the system, and some youngsters recommended drinking litres of water and boosting their immune systems with vitamins in order to combat spots from within. There was even one suggestion of drinking dandelion tea, which has merit because dandelions are renowned for their cleansing qualities, particularly of the liver and urinary system.

People who preferred to attack the problem more directly would make up pastes and lotions for the affected areas. A number of these incorporated home remedies have help people with acne and also helped to maintain clear skin:-

1.Cinnamon and Honey Scrub

Mix one teaspoon of cinnamon into three tablespoons of honey. Use it as an exfoliant, that is, by gently working it into the affected areas. Leave for half an hour – or even overnight – and then wash off with warm water.

2.Oatmeal and honey combined have also been used:

Make a paste of oatmeal softened with honey. Rub it into the affected areas and then leave for 20 minutes or so. Wash off with lots of cool water.

3.Egg And Oatmeal Mask

There’s a more elaborate version of this one too, combining the oatmeal with vinegar, raspberries, egg and salt:

Place the oatmeal in a small bowl, add about a tablespoon of salt, some raspberries, a splash of vinegar and an egg. Mix into a pink paste. Apply liberally, using it as a facial scrub. Leave for half an hour or until dry, then wash off with cold water.

An egg white makes an appearance in the following preparation, which also suggests it might help if you steam the face first:

Put hot water into a bowl, cover your head with a towel or cloth, lower your face over the bowl to about 4 inches from the surface of the water, capturing the steam within the towel. Close your eyes and wait for 2-3 minutes. This will open the pores of your skin. Use two egg whites and mix it with a few drops of lemon. Whisk the mixture until it is frothy and apply as a mask to your skin. Allow the mask to dry then rinse it with cool water.

4.Sugar Scrub

Sugar crystals, used in the following, have a slightly abrasive quality and help remove dead skin, cleansing and opening the pores.

Wash the face with warm water but do not dry. Pour some granulated sugar into one hand. Pat, it on to the affected areas of the skin and around the nose, chin, and forehead. Rub gently in circular movements for 3-5 minutes. Rinse with warm water, followed by cold water.

5.Apple cider vinegar

apple cider vinegar is made from pressed apples from which unfiltered juice is obtained.

It helps to fight many types of bacteria and viruses.

It contains certain acids which have shown to kill acne bacteria.

Apple cider vinegar also helps to dry up the excess on the skin.

Direction for application:-

use one part of apple cider vinegar and 3 parts of water ( you can additionally add more water if you have sensitive skin). Apply it with a cotton ball and keep it for 5-20 seconds then wash it off with plain or cold water. You can repeat it 1-2 times per day.

6.Include zinc supplements

Zinc is an essential mineral which is important for cell growth, production of hormones, metabolism and provides immunity.

They are many findings and research which shows that people who suffer from acne lacks zinc in their body when compared to the people with clear skin

They are a significant reduction in acne if acne sufferers consume 30-40 mg of elemental zinc on a daily basis.

7.Spot Treatment

For one persistent spot, beauty experts suggest that a single raisin can help:

Place a raisin in boiling water to make it swell. Hold the raisin in place over the spot until it cools.

Several people recommended toothpaste, to be dabbed on a spot to dry it up. Another suggested salt worked into a paste and massaged into the face. This may sting if the skin is broken.

Home Remedies for Open Pores on Face

I must admit I am blessed with healthy skin, I was never concerned about it until I noticed tiny pores on my face. It seemed trivial to be embarrassed because of them until they became noticeable. I wanted to know what the reason behind them was, are they genetically determined or my lifestyle is responsible for them. After some research, I have found some answers for myself which I am sharing in this article.

Home Remedies for Open Pores on Face

Home Remedies for Open Pores on Face

Skin is the largest organ of our body, it contains innumerable pores. While most of these pores are not visible, all of them are open. Open pores help our skin to breathe properly. Each pore carries a hair follicle and a sebaceous gland. These sebaceous glands are known to produce sebum which is commonly called oil. Sebaceous glands are more in number on your face, chest, groin, and back.Stimulation of these glands is controlled by certain hormones.

Open pores do not pose any medical concern but they may impose cosmetic issue for some. They appear as small pits on the face and make your face look dull and aged. Likewise, when dirt accumulates in them these pores they can lead to blackheads and whiteheads.

Following is the list of few factors responsible for open pores.

  • High level of sebum production
  • Reduced elasticity around the pore
  • Thick hair follicles
  • Heredity
  • Reduced collagen production because of aging
  • Sun damage

Remember you cannot get rid of open pores but you can reduce their appearance and improve the look of your skin by adopting below mentioned home remedies.

Steaming

Steaming during facial help in cleaning your open pores, it makes them appear smaller in size and gives your skin revitalizing glow. When essential oils (like eucalyptus)and herbs are added to the steam it helps in accentuating the benefits of steam. Essential oils also have an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect on your skin. Facial steam baths help in removing excess oil and dirt from the pores.

Adopt preventive skin care regime, avoid touching your skin with dirty hands. Dirt may clog your open pores and worsen your skin condition.

Exfoliation

You can be proactive by adopting preventive skin care routine, it will enhance the appearance of your skin. Exfoliate your skin daily and always wear sunscreen, it helps to maintain the elasticity of your skin. Exfoliation helps in removing dead skin cells which is vital for good skin. Natural homemade almond meal is natural and mild for sensitive skin. It is easy and quick to prepare. Mix some almond meal in water and give it a quick mix, apply it on your face and gently massage with your fingertips for about 5 to 8 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Moisturizing skin

Keep your skin healthy by moisturizing it daily after every wash. Use skin care products that boost collagen production and contain antioxidants.

Apply a light moisturizer on your skin as lemon juice tends to make your skin dry after application. Do this twice a day everyday and you will see improvement in your skin tone. After using it for a month, you will get a blemish free and spotless skin for sure.

Aloe vera has soothing properties that keeps the skin healthy and moisturized. It also regenerates the cells and renews them to give you a glowing skin that is free from the blemishes. It also aids skin healing and protects the skin against sun damage. Apply fresh aloe vera gel on the effected skin and then leave it overnight.
