Simple Home Remedies To Treat Shoe Bite At Home

Shoe bite is common when we wear ill-fitted shoes. Almost all of us experience it. In our article, today we have listed a few tested and tried home remedies to treat shoe bite.

What Is Shoe Bite?

When the skin of your feet rubs, up against the shoe, you are wearing it results in wear and tear of the skin and blisters and swelling appears.

What Causes Shoe Bite?

The primary cause of the shoe bite is ill-fitted shoe. However, sometimes shoe bite may be caused due to sweaty feet.   Females are more susceptible to shoe bite in comparison to men as they tend to wear narrow and tight shoes. Mostly bellies, sneakers, oxfords or pumps pause shoe bite as they have more chance of rubbing against skin.

No doubt, the first thing you need to do to treat shoe bite is stop wearing the ill-fitted shoes that cause it. To alleviate pain and for quick healing you can try the remedies for shoe bite discussed in our article.

Home Remedies For Shoe Bite

#1. Mint Toothpaste

Mint toothpaste contains methanol which  has  analgesic property and reduces pain. Also, it gives you a cooling effect.

Apply a little toothpaste with the help of a clean cotton ball to the affected area and leave it to dry. Once it driesrinse it off.

#2. Honey

Honey is antibacterial as well as anti-inflammatory. It reduces the inflammation caused due to shoe bite and prevents secondary infection. With the help of a clean cotton ball, apply honey to the affected site. Repeat this at least three to four times in a day.

#3. Olive Oil

Olive oil is rich in bioactive compounds that has anti-inflammatory property. It reduces inflammation. Apply a few drops of olive oil to the affected area with the help of a cotton ball. Repeat this a few time in a day.

#4. Aloe Vera

Aloe verapossess antibacterial and healing properties. It reduces the blister on the feet and promotes fast healing. Extract the fresh gel of aloe vera. Apply it to the affected area generously. Rinse it off with plain water when it dries.

#5. Petroleum Jelly

Petroleum jelly moisturises the affected area and exhibits antimicrobial property. It promotes healing. Apply petroleum jelly generously to the affected area and leave it overnight. Apply the petroleum jelly on the shoe bite until it heals. You may continue to apply petroleum jelly on your feet and heels every night before sleeping. The regular application of petroleum jelly on your heels eventually softens your heel.

#6. Turmeric and Neem

Both Neem and turmeric are anti-inflammatory antiseptic and antibacterial.

Blend neem leaves and turmeric to make a thin paste and applying the paste to the affected site. Once it is dry rinse it off with water. Repeat this at least 2 times in a day.

Home remedies for shoe bite will provide you relief but as it is said prevention is better than cure.

Ways To Prevent Shoe Bite

Before purchasing shoes always try them to have an idea how well the shoes fit. Whenever you buy a new shoes rub a little oil along its side before wearing them. Repeat this for a few days to soften the edges. This will prevent shoe bite. To avoid shoe bite you may also stick adhesive pad at the back of your ankle. Similar to adhesive protectors, shoe protectors are also available to prevent shoe bite on your toes. The simplest thing you can do to prevent shoe bite is wear socks.
