Smoking Harmful Effects on Women’s Skin: How Does Smoking Change Your Skin?

Women are more prone than males to encounter negative side effects when they smoke. These smoking side effects can cause a wide range of health problems. Some women get it immediately away, while others develop it over time, so we can learn about some of the dangerous changes to your skin that caused by smoking.

Wrinkles & Sagging Skin

Smoking promotes the ageing process and causes more wrinkles on the face. If you are a regular smoker or continue to smoke, your age will begin to show sooner rather than later. Others are known to harm the skin’s collagen and elastin (skin structural proteins) the results include skin sagging and deeper wrinkles.

Black Lips, Fine Lines & Wrinkles Around The Mouth

Excessive smoking can make the lips black. As  already discussed that Cigarette smoke damages elastin in the skin that reduces collagen production. It affects the skin around the mouth as well as acquire wrinkles around the lips. So women may face early indications of ageing around the mouth as a result of smoking. So If you don’t want your lips to turn black and wrinkle, quit smoking immediately.

Skin Pigmentation & Acne

Smoking causes the skin to produce more melanin, which can result in dark patches on the face. Excessive smoking can also result in acne and pimples on the face. Women who smoke heavily have more pigmentation, dry skin, and pimples on their faces than women who do not smoke. Nicotine addiction in women may also seem pale or have an uneven skin tone.

Skin Cancer

According to a recent study, Tobacco smoking leads to the possibility of females developing oral cancer known as squamous cell carcinoma. As cigarette contains carcinogens, cancer-causing substances that grow the condition like rough or scaly patches, lumps, open sores, or wart on the skin, dark or red in light skin tones or other abnormal textures on your skin which could indicate oral cancer. Psoriasis- Skin Inflammation Disease

Women who regularly smoke are more likely to risk skin inflammation such as itchy and scaly areas, growth of uneven cells and violet or dark brown with grey scales, all of which can lead to the development of psoriasis. Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease that is also indicated by painful blisters on the hands and feet.

Furthermore, smoking can have an impact on the overall personality of women who have smoked for a long time that includes: sore throat, yellowing of teeth, bags under the eyes, patches on the gums and tongue, numbness of the mouth, changes in skin texture, thinning or greying hair, and hair loss, among other things. Smoking has been linked to a greater incidence of depression and anxiety in women than in males.
