Usually, a cracked heel is an indicated how careless you are regarding your body. It is caused due to dryness and lack of moisture. Our feet and heels do not contain any oil gland so they easily become dry and develops cracks.

Pollution and dry winter air may also contribute to the dryness of cracked heels.

10 Home Remedies for Cracked Heels

1.Honey-

Honey is antiseptic and antimicrobial. It is humidifier and traps the moisture. It is also effective in the case of deep and sore cracks.
How to use:
Method 1

  • Take a small tub.
  • Fill it with warm water sufficient to immerse your feet.
  • Put a tablespoon of honey to it.
  • Soak your feet in it for 30 minutes.
  • For best results, repeat this thrice a week.

2.Milk, Honey and Orange-

Milk is rich in nutrients such as vitamin, minerals and protein. It contains vitamin A which is an antioxidant and repairs the damage. Honey, as we discussed above, is humidifier. Orange juice contains vitamin C that promotes collagen production. It makes the skin elastic and soft.
How to use:

  • Take a cup of honey and warm it
  • Add 2 tablespoons milk to it.
  • Heat this mixture for few more seconds.
  • Add Juice of an orange to the mixture.
  • Mix the ingredients
  • Pour it in a tight jar and keep a jar in the refrigerator.
  • Apply this preparation to heels after cleaning it thoroughly.
  • After 45 minutes, wash your feet with warm water.
  • You may also apply it at night and rinse off in the morning.
  • For best results practice this for a month.

3.Glycerine, Lemon and Rose Water-

Glycerine is a good moisturizer and makes the skin soft and smooth. Lemon contains vitamin C and promotes the healing. Owing to its acidity lemon juice wards off the germs. Rose water is antimicrobial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory.
How to use:

  • Take a small tub.
  • Pour warm water in it.
  • Add 10 drops of lemon juice to it.
  • Now add 2 teaspoon glycerin.
  • Now add a teaspoon of rose water.
  • Immerse your feet in this solution for 20 minutes.

Method 2:

  • Take a teaspoon of glycerine.
  • Add an equal amount of rose water and lemon juice to it.
  • Mix well
  • Apply this on the affected area at night
  • Wash your feet in the morning with warm water.

4.Sesame oil-

Sesame oil contains Vitamin E, stearic acid, palmitic acid, and linoleic acid. It is a good moisturizer and antimicrobial. It prevents infection and repairs the cell damage.
How to use:

  • Clean your feet and dry it.
  • Apply the sesame oil to the affected part.
  • Massage the affected part gently.
  • It is better to use this daily at night for a month or so for good results.

5.Brown sugar to heal cracked heels-

Brown sugar scrubs the dead skin cells and makes the feet soft and smooth. Glycolic acid present in the brown sugar is antibacterial. It also locks the moisture in the skin and prevents it from getting dry.
How to use:

  • Take 2 tablespoons of brown sugar in a bowl.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of honey, lemon juice and olive oil to it.
  • Mix well the ingredients to make a paste.
  • Wet your feet.
    Now apply the paste and scrub for a few minutes.
  • When granules of brown sugar melt rinse off feet with warm water.
  • Repeat this 2 times a week to heal cracked heels.

6.Turmeric-

Curcuminoids present in turmeric is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial. It has been used since ancient times to heal cracked heels.
How to use:

  • Take 3 teaspoons of turmeric powder.
  • Add a few drops of coconut oil to it.
  • Mix the ingredients heel to make a paste.
  • Apply this paste on affected area and rub gently.
  • After 30 minutes, wash your feet with warm water.

7.Camphor, Aloe Vera, Basil Leaves, and Turmeric-

All these ingredients are antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. Aloe Vera locks the moisture in the skin and makes it soft and smooth.

How to use:

  • Grind few basil leaves and make a paste.
  • Grind camphor to make a powder.
  • Extract fresh Aloe Vera gel.
  • Mix ground basil leaves, powder of camphor, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder and aloe Vera gel.
  • Mix well and make a paste.
  • Rub this paste to the affected area.
  • After 30 minutes, rinse off your feet with warm water.
  • Repeat this every alternate day to heal cracked heels.

8.Cold pressed vegetable oil to heal cracked heels-

Vegetable oils such as sunflower oil, mustard oil, olive oil or safflower oil are emollients. They act as a moisturizer and soften the skin. Prefer olive oil due to its anti-bacterial properties.
How to use:

  • Clean your feet thoroughly.
  • Apply vegetable oil to the affected area.
  • Rub your feet gently.
  • Repeat this daily to get quick relief.

9.Rice water and baking soda-

Rice water helps to remove dead and exfoliated skin. It is rich in folic acid, Zinc, Phosphorus, Vitamin A, E and C. It promotes the healing and makes the skin soft and smooth. It is also effective in the cases where cracked heels are a result of magnesium deficiency.
How to use:

  • Boil rice and strain the water in a small tub.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to 5 cups of water.
  • Soak your feet in the warm rice water.
  • After 15 minutes, wash your feet with warm water.
  • Repeat this every day before going to bed.

Banana moisturizes the feet and makes the skin smooth and soft. The avocado contains essential oils that repairs the damage.
How to use:

  • Take a ripe banana and blend it
  • Grind half avocado.
  • Mix both the make a paste.
  • Apply this paste on your heels.
  • After 20 minutes, wash your feet with warm water.
