A blood test may be done to check the levels of certain hormones such as luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, testosterone, and estradiol. Laparoscopy may also be done to rule out ovarian cancer. In the case of ovarian cancer staging method is followed.
How is the ovarian cyst diagnosed
Most ovarian cysts disappear itself. If symptoms are not so severe you just need to wait and watch. A routine test is a must for every woman, especially after menopause.
If you have pain, you may be prescribed birth control pills as they prevent ovulation. When cyst does not go away and continue to grow surgery such as laparoscopy and laparotomy is prescribed.
