  1. Raw meat, fish, and poultry may carry an enormous variety of disease causing microbes such as Escherichia coli.
  2. Turkey, chicken, and fowl may be contaminated with salmonella, shigella and campylobacter that may cause diarrhea, fever, and cramps.
  3. Sea foods and other shell- fishes may carry bacterial species that cause diarrhea and hepatitis.
  4. Unpasteurized cheese is commonly infected by Listeria bacteria that may cause a miscarriage in pregnant women and may harm the fetus.
  5. Unwashed vegetables and fruits in our kitchen platform and fridge carry a variety of diseases causing microbes and parasites.
  6. Kitchen gadgets such as can opener, cutting boards, towels, garbage disposals, food processors, blenders, beaters, counter tops kept in the kitchen are also contaminated with time due to direct contact with people, pets and other sources from the environment.

Use a bleach solution to clean the utensils, can openers, cutting boards, scissors, and knives after using it. This is followed by wiping them with a washed cloth.

2. Cleaning, Cutting Boards:

Keep different cutting boards for chopping meat and vegetables. Wash them properly after every use.

3. Washing Kitchen Platforms:

After completing your work in the kitchen do remember to spray bleach solution on the platform and then wipe it with a clean cloth to disinfect kitchen.

4. Washing the Dishcloth:

Wash the cloth you use to wipe the utensils, can opener, counter tops, and other kitchen gadgets daily with soap or detergent. You may also soak them in steaming water for some time and then strain and let it dry.

5. Washing Garbage Bin:

To disinfect kitchen remember to dispose of the garbage regularly. After that wash the Garbage bin with chlorinated water. Use a brush to wash it thoroughly.

Let the bin dry in the sun and then wrap a poly bag or keep a big paper bag in it. You may dispose the garbage in the paper bag and then easily dispose of the bag.

6. Washing Towels and Sponge:

Regularly clean the towel, sponge and scrubs in the soapy water. These things are highly contaminated and need to be cleaned 2 times daily. After washing them strain them and dry in sun or air.

Remember not to put them in washing machine along with other clothes. Metal scrubbers or plastic scrubber should be cleaned in the dishwasher.

Remember to pour a cup of hot boiling water into the sink drain followed by a cup of chlorinated water after a few minutes at night before going to sleep.

8. Clean Refrigerators:

We think the fridge is the safest place to prevent food from contamination. But remember fridge too needs to be cleaned periodically with a bleach solution or it may be contaminated by microbes like Listeria.

Refrain yourself from keeping mold and decay food in the refrigerator. In the case of spills wipes them with clean cloth immediately. Do not fill your fridgewith unnecessary food items. It is better to get rid of cooked food after 2 days.

9. Cleaning Food Processor, Blender, and Egg Beaters:

Wash them in the dishwasher. You must remove the visible food matter and place the washable parts in the dishwasher.Beside disinfecting your kitchen also take care of your personal hygiene.
Shoes and slippers should not be allowed in the kitchen. If necessary keep a separate set of slippers to wear in your kitchen. Keep every food in the kitchen covered. Wash your hand before and after cooking.
Also, ask family members to clean their hands before eating. Always clean the water bottles. Water purifier should also be serviced periodically.
