What are Papules

A papule is a tiny area of abnormal skin that is less than a centimetre. It can be of various shapes and has a distinct border. The shape may be of the dome or flat, but usually, they are cone-shaped. Papules are red or pink in colour, but maybe brown or purple. These tiny skin lesions may have a small impression in the middle giving an appearance of the navel. In most of the cases, papules are not severe. They are inflamed whiteheads without pus and no visible fluid. They may be tender to touch. Usually, they develop as rash or appear in clusters. Simple home remedies are enough to get rid of papules.

Causes And Symptom Of Papules

Papules are small and solid bumps formed on the skin due to inflammation of whiteheads. They develop when the wall of the follicle is broken, and the area is invaded by the white blood cells causing inflammation of pores.

Papules appear tender and are often itchy. On scratching, they result in crusty and red eruptions. They may develop on any part of the body but are more common on the face and can be accompanied with other skin issues such as contact dermatitis, chicken pox, psoriasis, lichen planus, contact dermatitis and rosacea.
