What is Female Infertility

Female Infertility is the inability to get pregnant even after having unprotected sex regularly. Biologically, it is referred to as the inability of a female of reproductive age, to participate in conception, or to a female who is unable to carry a pregnancy to the full term. About 50 percent of a couple infertility cases is due to female infertility factors. It accounts for one-third of the infertility cases.

2. Hormonal imbalance- It is a very common problem these days due to the changes in lifestyle, lack of exercises and poor diet. This inhibits the release of eggs and also effects the thickening of the endometrium, which is the inner lining of the uterus.

3. Damage to the cervical canal affects fertility.

4. Uterine issues- Fibroids and uterine polyps may interfere with conception.

5. Premature ovarian failure- It is a condition where ovaries stop their normal function before reaching the age of menopause.

If you are trying to conceive for more than 12 months without any result consult your doctor. Your doctor may take a complete history regarding your menstruation, lifestyle, previous medical history and sex life.
Your doctor may also recommend diagnostic tests to rule out any issues with the uterus (womb), tubes, endometriosis or adhesions.

The following tests may be done, such as hysterosalpingogram, transvaginal Ultrasonography and ovarian Reserve Testing. Blood tests may be done to evaluate ovarian reserve. Other blood tests, include determining the level of estradiol, an antimüllerian hormone (AMH), and/or inhibin-B, Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and prolactin levels. Sonohysterography, hysteroscopy, and laparoscopy may also be done.

According to the underlying disease, your doctor may decide the line of treatment for you. Hormones are given to treat hormonal imbalance. Antibiotics may be given to treat infections. To enhance fertility supplement may be given and to stimulate ovulation certain medication may be prescribed. In the case of blockage of the tubes or scar tissues in tubes, pelvic area, and uterus minor surgery may also be recommended.

1.Ashwagandha- It is also known as Indian ginseng and has been very effective in treating women from infertility.
