Best Home Remedies To Relieve Wrist Pain

There are many causes of wrist pain including repetitive movements, putting stress on wrist, carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis. Most of us ignore the wrist pain especially if the pain is not intense and when the pain becomes intense, we resort to over the counter medications.

There are home remedies and therapies to relief wrist pain and find ways to prevented in future.

Home Remedies To Relieve Wrist Pain

Heating Pad To Relieve Wrist Pain

Keep the heating pad on your wrist for at least 20 minutes to ease stiffness and relieve discomfort. If you do not have a heating pad, you can also use ice pack after heating it in the microwave for a few seconds.

Ice Pack To Relieve Wrist Pain

Applying the ice pack reduces pain and swelling. This is to be done for about 15 minutes in every hour. While icing your wrist better lay it on a pillow and do not try to bend it. After you are done with icing keep your wrist on the pillow for a few more minutes before starting any activity.

Simple Exercises To Relieve Their Wrist Pain

This is indeed very important step to relieve the wrist pain. You can do this along with your regular exercise routine. Whenever you feel pain in your wrist shake your wrist. While you are sitting or sleeping, hang your hands out of the bed or chair. To know more exercises that will help you to relieve wrist pain meet a certified physiotherapist.

Alternate Your Hands When Completing The Tasks

If you are experiencing wrist pain in one of your hand it means the affected wrist needs a break. It may be tough for you to give your dominant hand a break but it is the need of your body. It can be difficult to get used to the other hand while preparing meal or writing but you will notice that once you are used to to work with the other hand your dominant hand will not experience that much of pain. Your work may slow down on using alternate hand to complete your task but it is good for your dominant hand in long run.

Do Not Apply So Much For On The Affected Wrist While Working

The most common reason you have wrist pain is application of the force by the hand that are positioned incorrectly. Do a favour to the affected wrist by using the little amount of force that is just needed to do the required task. For example, when you are fixing something you do not need to have death grip on the tool or it will cause your wrist to pain more. Once you take the tight grip off the wrist, the pain eases. The same is applied to the keyboard. Better, tap the keyboard lightly and take your time.

Elevate Your Wrist To Relieve Pain

Whenever it is possible ensure to elevate your forearm and wrist. Elevating the hands stimulate the circulation and makes it less challenging for your heart to pump the blood to the affected area. The flow of blood is critical for wound healing and is a great therapy to ease inflammation and reduce swelling and pain symptoms.

Massage Therapy

Our wrist experiences frequent stress that may be a reason for inflammation and pain. In most of the cases, the patients with wrist pain also experience swelling and the ligaments feel tight. Visit a certified and experienced massage therapist and let him work on your forearms and wrist. The specialised trained massage therapist knows how to release the tension in the trigger point by manipulating the tissues of wrist and forearm.

Adjust Your Sitting Position At The Desk While Working On Your Laptop Or Computer

Most of us today spend most of our time in front of the screen working in office. When we remain seated in any position for long it leads to the atrophy of the muscular system and creates changes in the ligaments that support the joints and bones. Similarly, when you rest your wrist in the same position on the table for a long the blood supply cuts off and makes changes to the ligaments and other supportive tissues present around the wrist. This is why it is very important that you take a break between your work and stretch your body and wrist. Adjust the sitting position if you feel the tension in your wrist. Make sure while working your forearms are flat on your desk and well supported.

Once the wrist pain is alleviated with the help of home therapies make sure to position your wrists correctly to prevent pain and discomfort in future.

If there is no relief, better see a doctor and physiotherapist for diagnosis and to rule out nerve damaging and inflammatory conditions.
