  • If a person has the following symptoms like cough, cold, fever, body ache and loss of taste and smell, get an RT-PCR test done as soon as possible.
  • The patient should follow symptomatic management for fever, cold, cough and sore throat. They can take gargle with hot water or take steam inhalation three times a day.
  • All medicines prescribed by the doctor should be taken on time, monitor your temperature level and oxygen levels thrice a day.
  • The infected person should have all facilities of living separately and at a reasonable distance from the family members during home isolation.
  • Patients should be kept in a well-ventilated room and opened windows to allow fresh air to enter the room.
  • Try to sleep on your stomach as much as possible, as it improves your oxygen circulation.

  • Regularly wash hands thoroughly with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid sharing household items such as utensils, glasses, cups, food utensils, towels, bedding, or other items with others family members in the house.
  • Wear a surgical mask at all times. It should be changed at intervals of every 8 hours, and do not use disposable masks again.
  • Dispose of masks used by patients only after disinfecting them with 1% sodium hypochloride.
  • If a patient has symptoms like a high fever, difficulty in breathing, he/she should immediately inform the doctor or nearest health centre.

  • During home isolation, only one member of the family should be taking care of such a person.
  • The person should not become in direct or close contact (for 14 days) with the other person.
  • Visitors should not be allowed in the house.
  • Use masks and disposable gloves when cleaning surfaces of an isolated person’s room, and don’t forget to wash hands after removing gloves.
  • Frequently touched material, surfaces or Isolated person’s room and toilet should be cleaned or disinfected with sodium hypochlorite solution.
  • Clean the clothes and other linen used by the person separately with detergent and keep it in the sunlight to dry properly.

Duration Of Home Isolation

In the confirmed case, the home quarantine period is for 14 days. After 14 days, the infected person will not have any symptoms like fever for three days, then home isolation will said to be over. Duration Of Home Isolation
