Health and happiness run parallel to each other. Happiness protects your heart, strengthens the immune system, combats stress, relieves pain, slows aging and helps to recover from diseases. To be happy one need not to look outside. To live a healthy life you need to be happy. And happiness resides in a healthy mind and body.

11 Tips to Live a Happy and Healthy Life

We all want to live a happy and a healthy life. So here are a few tips for the same:

  1. Exercise to live a happy and a healthy life- Exercise releases endorphins. Interaction of endorphins with the receptors in the brain reduces the pain. This hormone triggers the positive feeling and elevates the mood. It reduces stress, boosts self-esteem, improves sleep, combats stress and wards off depression. Exercise also strengthens your bones, heart, improves muscle strength and regulates blood flow. Aren’t these reasons enough to make you happy.

    Add 30 to 45 minutes of moderate exercise in your routine life. It does not mean going to gym and sweating yourself. You can enjoy dancing, biking, gardening, jogging, swimming, play tennis, basketball or just take a walk with your mate. Exercising in a group, playing, dancing or jogging with your best friend are also examples of moderate physical activities that provides you emotional bonding and support.

  2. Yoga to live a healthy and a happy life- Practicing yoga is an ideal way to be healthy and live happy. It stimulates the secretion of serotonin, boosts confidence and provides strength to face unexpected situations. Yoga helps you to focus on your breathing and eliminates worries, frustration, depression and anxiety, It calms the mind and body and brings positivity in your life.

Add green leafy vegetables to live a healthy and a happy life- Dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach, lettuce leaves are not only rich in vitamin B complex but also are rich in folate that stimulates the production of dopamine. Dopamine removes the negativity and thus wards off depression and stress from our life.

  4. Cognitive behavioral therapy to live a healthy and a happy life- This is a psychological approach toward the happy life. It is a talking therapy that helps you to manage problems in your life. It changes your thought and actions that change the way you think and behave. This therapy is very effective in warding off depression, anxiety, and negative thoughts thus make life happy.

  5. Hugg your dear once and smile to live a healthy and a happy life- It is a proven fact that if you hug your dear ones tight and smile, your brain stimulates the happiness center and release mood-elevating hormones.

  6. Fresh air and sunlight- Don’t just close yourself inside four walls. Go out and in sunlight to uplift your mood naturally. Open doors and windows of your room so that sunlight and the cool fresh breeze can enter your room and enlighten your life. Sunlight contains vitamin D that combats depression and anxiety.

  7. Meditation to live a healthy and a happy life – Just 15 minutes of meditation have been enough to trigger the release of happy hormones, reduce stress, relieve pain and enhance memory and concentration.

  8. Healthy and balanced diet- Eat a complete food rich in the complex carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Cut saturated fats and refined sugars. Add good fats such as Omega-3 fatty acids. Eat 5 to 6 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Avoid junk and processed foods.Drink at least 10 to 12 glasses of water daily. A healthy diet is very important to live a healthy and a happy life.

  10. Spent some time with your family, friends,kids, and pets to live a healthy and a happy life- This is a key factor to happy life. It releases mood-enhancing hormones and combats stress by lowering the level of cortisol hormone.
  11. Help others- Whenever you help someone like sharing food, Giving clothes and foods to needy, Dropping your friend or even helping your spouse with daily housework it stimulates mood enhancing hormones and wards off stress. Helping someone or supporting needy eliminates the negative thoughts, attracts positivity and makes your life happy and healthy.

And at last but not the least take a break from your routine life and enjoy the beauty of nature to live a happy life. Happy life is key to healthy life.
