When our body is exposed to excessive heat it may result in heat bumps.

Heat bumps are also known as miliaria or heat rash. This condition is really annoying as it may cause severe itching. In case heat bumps develop on the face they are really unsightly.

Usually, heat rash appears in those areas where there is more skin to skin friction. Commonly they appear on the neck, groin and below the breast, but they may develop anywhere.

Heat bumps are caused due to the trapping of sweat beneath the skin due to the blocking of the sweat glands. When the climate is hot and humid it causes the entering of germs into the sweat glands resulting in inflammation and infection. On the blockage of sweat glands, the sweat gets accumulated under the skin and causes heat bumps.

What are the Home Remedies to Treat Heat Bumps:

1.Ice to Treat Heat Bumps-

Application of the ice is the best treatment for heat bumps. For this take the ice and wrap it in the cheese cloth. Apply this on the affected area for about 10 minutes. Repeat this several times in a day till you get relief.

2.Aloe Vera to Get Rid of Heat Bumps-

Possessed by healing properties, Aloe Vera has been found very effective in treating skin rashes. It imparts smoothness and coolness to the affected area and reduces redness and itching. Extract fresh Aloe Vera gel and then apply it on the affected area. Do remember not to use market available Aloe Vera gel as they contain chemicals that may clog the skin pores and worsen your condition.

3. Fuller’s Earth-

Fuller’s earth has been used since ages to ease the skin problems. The cooling effect of the fuller’s earth is also effective to get rid of heat bumps. Take a tablespoon of fuller’s earth and add a quantity of water to make a smooth paste. Apply this paste on heat rash. Leave it for about 20 minutes and then rinse it off. Repeat this every day till you get relief.

4.Cucumber-

Again cucumber is known for its soothing and cooling effect. Cut cucumber in slices and rub them very gently to the affected area for 15 minutes. Repeat this several times in a day.

5.Sandalwood-

Like fuller’s earth you may also use sandalwood powder to get rid of heat bumps. Take a tablespoon of sandalwood powder and add sufficient quantity of water to make a paste. Apply it to the affected area and leave it for 20 minutes. When it gets dry, rinse it off.

6.Oatmeal-

Besides having oatmeal in your breakfast you may also use them to get rid of heat bumps. For this take a cup of oatmeals and mix it in a bathtub filled with hot water. Mix them till the oatmeals get dissolved. Now, wait till the water gets little cool. Soak yourself in oatmeal water for 20 minutes and find relief.

7.Baking soda-

Yes, you may also use baking soda to get rid of heat bumps. Apply baking soda to the affected part and it will absorb the excess of sweat and provides you relief from heat rashes.

The above-mentioned home remedies to treat heat bumps are very effective and easy to use. You may use any one or combination of them to get off heat bumps.

  1. Always wear cotton clothes.
  2. Take regular bath. Better take cold showers.
  3. Do not wear tight clothing.
  4. Apply talcum powder in the areas where skin touches each other.
